World Car Fans posted up this cool video on YouTube showing the JCW MINI Coupe on the track with a JCW MINI Clubman. What do you think about that exhaust note?

A big name, a long tradition, outstanding performance, figures and an incomparable driving experience: the MINI John Cooper Works arouses motor racing passion which goes beyond the race track. In August 2008 the new model – produced at the British MINI plant in Oxford – will be coming to Germany along with the MINI John Cooper Works Clubman. With their world premiere at the International Automobile Salon in Geneva (March 6thñ16th 2008), these versions are the first two models to be launched by MINI under the brand MINI John Cooper Works.

Wow – I think I am going to make this one into a game called… “Count the Mistakes!”. From the title of the video “2009 Mini Clubman” to stating that the MINI Clubman S has a supercharger (don’t I wish!), I am amazed this video actually made it out there. See if you can find any other errors!

So next month at the Geneva car show, Fiat is set to present the new Fiat 500 Abarth to the masses. Autocar has a nice write-up on the debut, including some official photos. I must say, this car is looking better every time I look at it.

What better way to kick off “MINI Clubman Weekend” than with the press release:
New Member of MINI Family Goes on Sale in US on February 16
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ — The eagerly anticipated 2008 MINI Clubman, an all-new addition to the MINI family, goes on sale in the US on February 16th, 2008, as both a Cooper and a Cooper S model. The MINI Cooper Clubman will be offered with a MSRP of $20,600, while the MINI Cooper S Clubman will come with a MSRP of $24,100. Both prices include a $650 Destination charge.
It looks like the folks at Motor Trend really like the new MINI Clubman after their chance to take it through its paces. While the Clubman won’t appeal to all MINIacs, I think it may do what it was set out to do – attract those who may never have considered a MINI before. For those who always thought the MINI was just too small, the Clubman may add just the right amount of space to make them think twice.
“I’ve never been all that much of Mini fanboy, but I think I’ve just become a card-carrying member of the Clubman cult.” – Edward Loh (Motor Trend)

The Motor Report has a sweet article about 20 of the the new JCW MINI Challenge cars being airlifted from Germany to Australia to arrive on time to compete in the inaugural Australian MINI CHALLENGE Series! Wait a second – why from Germany you ask? Well according to the article:
“The MINI Cooper Works CHALLENGE cars are built in Plant Oxford, in the UK, the home of all MINI production cars. They are then shipped to BMW Motorsport in Germany for final race fit out which sees the fitment of roll cages, fire extinguishers, six-point safety harnesses and HANS head and neck support compatible race seats as well as competition brakes, wheels and a distinctive aero body kit.”

With all the buzz swarming around the new MINI Clubman, new owners are gearing up to take delivery of these new vehicles and thinking of mods already. As usual, Pete from Minspeed.net is one step ahead of the competition. Listening to the criticism from many who have been studying this new MINI, he has taken the steps to provide, what many consider, to be the first necessary mod to the Clubman – Rear C Panel (rear trim) replacements to match the body color of the rest of the car. If you haven’t checked out Pete’s website, take a moment to check it out and tell him MotoringFun.com sent you :).
In an e-mail sent to select MINI owners last night, it looks like MINIUSA is shooting for March to deliver more detailed information on MINI Takes The States 2008. All I will say is, sure would be nice to have this information already, since some of us actually work and need to request vacation time well in advance (sigh). Thanks to MINI_Marc for this find (I apparently am not on the “list” because I did not receive the e-mail):
