2 Weeks Of F56 Ownership

So far Clark has proven to be one fun ride!!  I am amazed at the amount of torque this MINI has without any noticeable torque steer. Since most of the torque is being produced below 4500 rpm, I am having no trouble staying below the recommended rpm limit during break-in period.  Speaking of which, I am just about at 1250 miles and getting ready to have my first oil change to flush out any break-in residue that may be floating in the oil.  With engines these days, there most likely isn’t anything floating around in there, but I am old school when it comes to the first oil change getting done early.  Can’t hurt…IMG_6428So far fuel efficiency has been much better than my R53, even though I am still having a lot of fun with the JCW exhaust and not using “green” mode much at all.  My average consumption last week was about 31mpg .  I can only imagine things will get better once I start experimenting with “green” mode on the commute to the office.IMG_6426Handling has been quite impressive as well.  The NM Engineering rear sway bar does help loosen up the back end just enough to correct the understeer present in the car.  The car rotates nicely and I feel is closer to the feel of an R53 (the gold standard) than any other MINI made in the past several years.  The Dynamic Damper Control is also effective at adjusting the suspension firmness.  While driving last week on a not-so-smooth road, I played with changing the driving mode from Sport to Green mode and there definitely was a noticeable difference.IMG_6440I did put the “S” logo on the bonnet last weekend for fun and saw a young child’s face light up when he saw the “Superman” car as he grabbed his daddy to come check it out.  That was really cool!  Clark also had some custom puddle lights installed to add to the theme:IMG_6424Clark’s identity crisis also came to an end last week when his vanity plate arrived!IMG_6436Overall, I am very pleased with the performance and comfort of my F56.   It really is a fun MINI to motor around in.  I can’t wait to head to Mickey and MINI next month and enter Clark in his first car show.  That should be a real blast!  If you haven’t been to Mickey and MINI before, you should come check it out!
