New MINIUSA.com Website

Earlier tonight I checked MINIUSA.com but it still had the same site we have been used to seeing for a few years and then just now I checked it again and BAM – a whole new site is there! Oh – and guess what? The new configurator is online. I am happy to report it is nothing like the German version I could not figure out. It actually looks almost like the old configurator, just with the new car. If you look closely though, under accessories, you will still see the old model MINI shown sporting some of the items. Well what are you waiting for? Go and configure your R56!

Daihatsu’s Counterfeit Mini?

I have mixed feelings on this one… On one hand I think this is pretty darn cool that a new car so closely resembles the Classic Mini. On the other hand I am like – WAIT JUST A DARN MINUTE!! What are they thinking trying to copy the Mini?? It has a 58hp engine and can do 0-60mph in 12.2 seconds. I suppose that is not all that bad all things considered, but I am still on the fence on this whole idea… Thanks to Snooter for this find!

MFMC Virtual Meet #1 – M7 Tuning

Tonight at 9pm EST / 6pm PST, the first Motoring Fun MINI Club (MFMC) “Virtual” Meet will take place with special guest Peter Horvath from M7 Tuning. The meet will take place in the Motoring Fun chat room (in the room labeled “MFMC Meet”). There are a limited number of spaces available, so get there early!

The chat will be moderated to keep things from getting too chaotic ;). This basically means that at certain times, the room may be muted except for the person asking a question. If you have a question for Peter, please post it in the comments section of this post. Make sure you use the same username when posting the comment that you use in the chat room in order for us to grant you a “voice” while your question is being discussed in case you have a follow-up comment or question during the response. Late Model Classic Mini vs. Fiat 500

In this 1990’s episode of Top Gear, the Mini is put up against a Fiat 500. While the Fiat shows some promise and even advantages over the Mini in day-to-day function, the Mini clearly comes out as the little car with the best handling and spunk.
