Minspeed Announces TireRack Distribution

Our good friend Pete over at Minspeed released an announcement that should be of interest to quite a few MINI owners:

I am pleased to announce that Minspeed has been appointed as a TireRack Distributor. If there is anything we can do for you related to “anything TireRack”, feel free to contact us.

We are very pleased to be associated with TireRack, the largest mailorder tire and wheel distributor in the industry. We are here to serve the MINI community but if you want to shod any other vehicle, we’ll help you with that one too!

Thanks for your continued support!

Pete Foglia

If you are in the market for wheels or tires and were thinking about dealing with TireRack, why not help a MINI vendor out and see about ordering from Minspeed who does SO much for the MINI community! Congratulations Pete!

Suspension Project – Part 3: BC Racing Coilovers, Powergrid Endlinks and M7 USS

In this installment of the MotoringFun Suspension Project, I will cover the final improvements I made to Scooter to take an already well-handling car and turn it into what can only be described as an adult go-kart. To recap, in part one of the project, I added lighter wheels and grippier (is that even a word?) tires and brakes. In part two, I added the ALTA rear sway bar and SPC adjustable control arms to reduce understeer and prepare the car for part three ñ BC Racingís fully adjustable coilovers/camber plates, Powergridís adjustable endlinks and M7 Tuningís Understrut System.

Fiat 500 Coming To The US?

By now you know that the Fiat 500 is a car I wish would be made available here in the states. I just think it is a cool little car, like the MINI. Well you can imagine my excitement when I saw this over at MotorTrend:

Fiat is considering whether to send the sporty Abarth version of its new 500 minicar to the U.S., reports Automotive News. The car would be sold without Fiat badges at select Alfa Romeo dealers sometime after 2010. If the plan becomes reality, this would be the first car Fiat has sold in the U.S. since it left the market in 1983.

Set to be launched on July 4, the Fiat 500 is a remake of the automaker’s famous minicar from the 1960s in the vein of the Mini Cooper. Not coincidentally, Fiat sees the Mini as the Abarth 500’s main competition. The Abarth version of the 500 will reportedly come with a 1.4-liter four-banger that could push as much as 150 horsepower, depending upon configuration.

Fiat does have reservations about the long-term willingness of U.S. buyers to buy small cars. CEO Sergio Marchionne points out that previous stints of small-car popularity brought on by high gas prices always ended when prices dropped to a normal level.

ALTA Releases R56 Exhaust

Looks like ALTA has just officially released their R56 Exhaust system:

ALTA R56 Exhaust

ALTA Performance is pleased to announce the release of the new R56 twin tip exhaust system. Made from 304 stainless steel, the ALTA R56 exhaust system is fully polished for a show-stopping shine including the pipes, mufflers and tips. The Perfect way to show off your attention to detail and catch the eye of other mini owners. The ALTA R56 exhaust system features mandrel-bent 3î tubing and V band flanges for faster turbo spooling and increased low end power. Designed with sound in mind, the ALTA system has a very very mellow tone that will make you want to motor.
