In case you haven’t noticed recent posts referring to MyMini as Minspeed, here is the reason behind the name change. While it is sad that BMW/MINI has chosen this course of action, I am confident that Pete will emerge from this better than ever. I personally want to thank Pete for his support, both locally with our MINI club, and with MotoringFun.com. He is a class act and I am sure others will agree that his customer service is paramount to his success. I wish Pete the best in this new journey and look forward to what new things await us. Motor On!
At the behest of BMW-MINI legal counsel, we are changing our name to Minspeed (www.minspeed.net), Effective February 25, 2007.
No reason to give the details here but are willing to comply with the request since we have a good relationship with mini.
The change is in name only and will not be a change in ownership, location or operations.
We appreciate the response we’ve had from our clients worldwide and will continue to bring you the finest products we can offer mini owners. With the change will come more, new and interesting items, including our new R56 additions and bespoke built cars.
I thank you all for your kind words and support of MyMini these past few years but i’m looking forward to taking on new challenges and what the future will bring us all!
Look for us to become Minspeed !
MINI will soon be motoring through the virtual world of Second Life.
According to the blog 3pointD.com, the Hammer & Coop episodes will air in Second Life. Then they will feature “items from the films that are given out as 3D SL [Second Life] objects”. There will be a contest involving the objects and posting screenshots to a MINI Flickr account. Winners will receive real MINI swag.
A bit more information (along with some cool screenshots) is given by the company responsible for helping Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners take the MINI to Second Life. Visit the website Millions of Us for more.
Our good friend Murray from murmini.com has posted yet another great and informative technical article - this time on On-Board Diagnostics (OBD). If you want to learn about the history of OBD, this is a great place to start. Murray does a great job transitioning from history lesson to MINI-applicable details. From coolant sensors to knock sensors and at least six more in between, this is a fabulous read that I highly recommend!
MINI USA isn’t the only one sending free things to MINI owners. The clever Canucks at MINI Canada are giving away free MINI 3-D TURBOVISION™ Goggles. These will be used to view sections of the MINI.ca website. Unfortunately, it seems you have to live in Canada to receive the glasses. [If any of our Canadian readers can help us out, let us know!]
WorldCarFans.com just posted up a nice video on the MINI Cooper D. In case you have been living under a rock, yesterday MINI announced details on the new MINI One and MINI Cooper D which got picked up by tons of automotive sites and blogs. MotoringFile.com has a great post with complete details in case you missed it. Also check out WorldCarFans.com for other cool car videos.
I found this online tonight at stephangates.com and thought it was just AWESOME!! According to the blog entry:
MINI “…has created a really cool outdoor ad in Italy. A life size fibreglass Mini was attached to ramp in the billboard that moves the car up and down to create a Yo-Yo effect.”
MotoringFile.com posted three official videos today of MINI at the Detroit Auto Show. Here is one of the quick ones showing the cars being introduced. Click over to MotoringFile.com to see the rest of the videos.
As many of you know, we have been following along as our Motoring Fun UK Correspondent, popey, has been awaiting the arrival of his new 2007 MINI Cooper S. Well the day finally came and the car has been picked up. Here are some pictures that popey snapped today. My favorite is the Navigation System with the TV tuner option - how cool is that?!?!
Here is a complete list of the options popey selected… Check back soon for popey’s first review as an owner
Our Motoring Fun UK Correspondent, popey, got word that his new R56 MINI Cooper S arrived at the dealership today so he went down to take a few pictures for us all to drool over. He says he should have the car ready to be picked up later this week. Man it is going to be a long week for popey!! We should have more from popey when he takes delivery so stay tuned!
